Flood Resources
Local resources to help you post flood recovery
If you were impacted by recent flooding events, the below resources may be useful to you:
Report Damage Following an Emergency
The Report Damage Portal allows the City to immediately collect damage information from New Yorkers to assess the impact upon affected areas.
Need specific services from the City? Submit a 311 Service Request online or call 311.
Renters Insurance
Generally, renter's insurance policy will pay to replace any property that is stolen, damaged or destroyed by a covered cause (water, fire, smoke, etc.). Be sure to document the damage to your home and any losses before throwing anything away through photographs and receipts. Check your policy and see here for more information from New York State Department of Financial Services:

Cleaning Up Mold
It is important to protect yourself and your belongings from mold. Follow this guidance from CDC on post storm mold clean up: https://www.cdc.gov/orr/infographics/00_docs/mold-cleanup.pdf.
If you’re a NYCHA resident, learn about mold service requests here: https://www.nyc.gov/site/nycha/residents/mold-busters.page.
Temporary Housing
If you need temporary housing, register with the Red Cross by calling 877-733-2767. In order to obtain emergency housing assistance, New York City’s Housing and Preservation Department would need to vacate the premises.
Avoid Storm Recovery Scams
Scam artists may try to take advantage of homeowners who have suffered property damage in a storm. Protect yourself and your neighbors, and follow this guidance on how to avoid home repair scams: https://www.dfs.ny.gov/consumers/scams_schemes_frauds/home_repair_scams
