Immigration - Know Your Rights
If you or a loved one is worried about getting arrested by ICE, please complete this DHS Privacy Waiver form just in case. This form will allow our office to request and receive information about you while you are in DHS custody, and it can take many weeks for our office to get permission from you if you’re already in detention.
Know that you have rights, including access to a lawyer. If you are based in NYC, you can connect to legal services via the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs legal support hotline: 800-354-0365. HOW WE CAN HELP
While congressional offices most commonly submit inquiries to federal agencies to follow up on pending applications, we can also inquire with DHS for the following reasons:
- Locate a loved one in DHS custody
- Relay constituents’ medical needs to agencies
- Inquire about conditions and medical care
- Inquire about delayed calls or visits with family or legal team
- Follow up on pending applications for stay or removal or similar matters
