New York, NY - A recent change in documentation requirements for FEMA's COVID-19 Funeral Assistance program has led to more than 1,600 New Yorkers receiving $10 million in reimbursement for burial expenses.The change was made after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer heard from New Yorkers who were struggling to access the program because their loved ones' death certificates did not list COVID-19 as the cause of death.
